Tableware is an essential element on any table, both for everyday use and for special occasions. Considered as a set of elements intended for table service, crockery has a practical function: to serve food. However, we can also give it a more decorative use, thus displaying a complete and attractive table.

Normally in our houses we usually have two types of tableware, one for our day to day and another more special for when we have guests. The one for daily use is usually made of simpler materials such as ceramic or earthenware, but if what we want is to impress our guests, we would opt for a porcelain one.

A basic tableware must have at least three types of plates : flat, deep and dessert. Currently, there are many formats, designs and colors that can be used in different circumstances, but standard designs and those with a round shape are recommended, as they are highly combinable and practical.

• Flat plate: it is the most basic element of tableware. Its ideal measurement is between 21 and 25 cm in diameter.
• Deep plate: the measurements are usually the same as flat plates, but they have a more concave shape, allowing the consumption of creams, soups, broths and everything that contains liquid.
• Dessert plate: it is a smaller plate than the previous ones, having a diameter of between 14 and 20 cm.

Apart from these pieces, cutlery and glasses and/or cups are also essential elements that will complete your tableware. The essential cutlery at a table are spoons (soup and dessert), knives (for meat and butter) and forks. And to complete this table service, we have glasses and glasses, which will be used depending on the drink to be consumed (glasses for water and soft drinks, wine and cava glasses).
