Description
Food supplement with a high content of Omega-3 fatty acids. Each pearl contains 1000 mg of fish oil, of which 760 mg are DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). The oil in this product is obtained by a cold extraction process, concentrated in the form of triglycerides, which favors better absorption of the oil.
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is a long-chain Omega-3 fatty acid present in the fat of cold-water fish, together with EPA (eicopsapentaenoic acid), make up the two most important Omega-3 fatty acids for human health.
Despite the fact that these Omega-3 fatty acids can be obtained from alpha-linolenic fatty acid (ALA), our body has a low capacity to carry out this conversion, so only 5% of ALA becomes DHA and EPA. This turns them into essential fatty acids for the body.
DHA is a structural component of the cell membranes of the different tissues of the body, being important in the development of the brain and vision. It is present in the retina and in the ocular mucosa and is part of rhodopsin, a photopigment that allows vision, even in poorly lit spaces.
It also plays an important role in the development of the central nervous system (CNS). For this reason, this fatty acid is very necessary during pregnancy , before the development of the fetus and neurons. Because the fetus receives fatty acids from the mother, the mother reduces their deposits as the pregnancy progresses and continues with this process during the lactation stage, which could cause a deficit of Omega-3 fatty acids in the mother.
