Description
The Organic Grain Amaranth from Biogra is considered a pseudocereal for its characteristics similar to those of the grains of true cereals. However, botanically it cannot be included within this plant group.
Indication
The amaranth plant can be used almost entirely. The stems are consumed as a vegetable and their leaves can be added to different stews or used to make soups, creams or tortillas. With its seeds, various foods are made such as cookies or the "sweet of joy", a very popular dish in Mexico made with amaranth, honey, raisins and walnuts. However, amaranth flour is not useful for making bread unless it is mixed with wheat flour. Lacking gluten this food can be part of the diet in case of celiac disease.
