Indication

Its culture is based in the Cordillera region of the Andes. Its history dates back more than 5,000 years BC

Quinoa, particularly rich in protein, was the main food resource of the Incas until the invasion of their territory in the 16th century by the Spanish who prohibited its cultivation. This ban almost caused the total disappearance of quinoa, but fortunately some families attached to traditions have managed to maintain plots cultivated during all these centuries of prohibition.

It was not until the 20th century that the cultivation of quinoa gradually resumed. Today, the Indians of the Bolivian Altiplano continue this tradition of growing "rice of the Incas".

Intake mode

It is advisable to wash the quinoa seeds. Cook over low heat in 2 times their volume of water for 10 to 15 minutes until the small white germ detaches from the seed. Cover and let swell off the heat.
